A Grounding Practice for Spring

Does the transition into Spring have you feeling a little less settled than usual? Maybe this grounding visualization practice is just what you need…

Come to seated in a comfortable position with eyes softly closed & begin to notice your breath. Allow the breath to slow & deepen gradually so that the belly & the heart both rise & fall gently with each inhalation & exhalation. When you have found a pace & rhythm to the breath that feels nourishing & sustainable for you, let your awareness come to the base of the spine. With your next inhalation, imagine drawing the breath up from the base of the spine toward the crown of the head. As you exhale, imagine the breath traveling back down the spine toward the Earth. Continue to visualize the breath moving in this way & with each exhalation imagine the breath reaching further into the Earth beneath you & picture the next inhale beginning at the point where the exhale ended. Visualize the breath moving in this way for 10-15 breaths or for as long as it feels good to do so. Allow your breath to gradually return to a more natural pace & rhythm for you & notice how you feel. Gently open the eyes & return to your day as you feel ready.
