Tawnia dreams of a world where we celebrate ourselves and others with love, compassion and joy. Through yoga, meditation and Reiki, she facilitates the journey inward, encouraging inquiry and holding space for safe and supported self-exploration, contemplation and reflection. It is her joy to help others reclaim their magnificence and honor their inner spark so they may live with fluidity and grace and in alignment with their greatest good.
She believes strongly in the importance of being compassionate with ourselves and honoring where we are physically, mentally, and spiritually in each moment. Her offerings are designed to encourage inquiry and promote exploration of the self through asana, breath, intention and guided relaxation. Her approach to teaching is intuitive and rooted in skillfully holding space for clients to experience a greater sense of connection to themselves, their practices and the world around them.
“I would describe my teaching-style as heart-centered and spirit-led. I bring a sense of curiosity to my own practice that inevitably weaves itself through my offerings as a teacher.”
Tawnia is an advocate for finding balance in all things – especially our wellness practices – and enjoys offering a variety of opportunities to slow down, breathe deeply and connect whole-heartedly. While she enjoys creating group offerings that allow people to practice together and connect as a larger community, her true passion lies with facilitating lasting transformation for individuals and small groups through tailored sessions built around the intentions, goals and needs of the individual.
“I encourage clients to slow down, listen deeply and trust their own inner wisdom. We are all so much wiser than we have been led to believe and I intend to help people reconnect with their natural radiance. I have no magic formula to offer but am happy to walk alongside anyone on their journey providing nurturing support, loving encouragement and gentle nudges as needed. It is a source of incredible joy for me to create and hold space for clients to connect to their best self.”
Tawnia trained as a Hatha yoga teacher through Transcending Yoga in Jacksonville, NC and is registered through Yoga Alliance as an experienced yoga teacher (eRYT-200) with more than 1,475 hours of teaching experience. She has been guiding classes, workshops and events in the local community since returning to the area in 2012. She considers herself an avid student of the practices she teaches and of life in general. She is also registered with Yoga Alliance as a Continuing Education Provider (YACEP) and offers CE workshops for yoga teachers in the local area. She was attuned to Reiki II in the Usui tradition through Channel for Healing in Wilmington, NC in 2011 and uses Reiki to support her personal wellness and her teaching practice.
“Reiki is an integral part of my teaching practice – supporting my ability to mindfully hold space for each client’s experience during their practice and supporting my own well-being and creativity. It allows me to show-up fully present and open to the fullness of each moment and each interaction.”
Tawnia retired from the Marine Corps in 2012 after 20 years of service and now seeks to serve through her teaching practice, community involvement and family.
